Ministry Overview

The Nehemiah Center serves our community by building relationships, creating opportunities, and sharing the love of Christ with our neighbors. Through ESL classes, youth programs, transportation, tutoring support, and community outreach, volunteers help create a welcoming environment where individuals and families can grow and connect. Whether teaching, driving, mentoring, or simply showing up with encouragement, every volunteer plays an important role in helping people feel valued and supported.

Volunteer Opportunities

1. ESL Teachers & Assistants

  • Help international neighbors strengthen their conversational English skills while building meaningful relationships. Our ESL class meets during Wednesday MOMs and provides a welcoming environment where students can practice English, connect with others, and experience the love and community of Christ.
  • Time Commitment:
	• Wednesday
	• 12:00 - 2:00 PM
	• Lunch begins at 12:00 PM
	• Class runs from 12:45 – 1:30 PM

2. Van Drivers

  • Help provide safe and reliable transportation for children and families in our programs. We need both regular and substitute drivers to assist with weekly transportation needs, special events, tutoring transportation, and summer programs.
  • Opportunities Include:
	• After-school pickup (Mon–Thurs)
	• Special events
	• Summer programs
  • Requirements:
	• Valid driver's license
	• Current insurance
	• Must be 23 years or older

3. Youth Ministry & Futsal Volunteers

  • Help build relationships with middle and high school students through our new youth ministry program. Using futsal (indoor soccer) as a ministry tool, volunteers help create a welcoming environment where students can connect, grow, and experience Christ-centered community.
  • Opportunities Include:
	• Futsal Referees and Facilitators
	• Snack Support
	• Youth group leaders and helpers
  • Time Commitments:
	• Tuesdays: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Futsal)
	• Fridays: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Youth Group)

Who can volunteer

Nehemiah Center volunteers come from all backgrounds and experiences. Whether you enjoy teaching, mentoring, driving, encouraging others, or simply building relationships, there is a place for you to serve. The most important qualification is a willingness to invest in people and share the love of Christ through genuine relationships.
