Prison Ministries

Lives Changed. Hope Restored. Jesus Shared.

In the past two years, we have witnessed over 700 professions of faith and rededications to Christ. God is changing lives, restoring families and bringing hope to those who desperately need it.

Who We Are

At FBC Community Ministries, our Prison Ministry is dedicated to “being Jesus with skin on” for those in prison.  Our mission is to share the hope of Jesus Christ with men, women, and youth who are incarcerated.  We carry the love and hope of Jesus Christ behind prison walls and help disciple men and women in their walk with Christ, and prepare them for life beyond incarceration.  Our team is often referred to as the “Hope Dealers” who share the transforming power of the Gospel.  Our ministry team is made up of dedicated men and women with over 100 years of combined prison ministry experience.

Our ministry is grounded in Matthew 25:36 – “I was in prison and you came to me.”

Who We Serve

We minister to:

  • Men and women in correctional facilities such as Maxwell Federal Prison Camp, Kilby Correctional Facility, Montgomery Women’s Facility, Tutwiler Women’s Prison, Bibb Correctional Facility, and the Tutwiler Annex.

  • Youth in detention through the Department of Youth Services and Montgomery Youth Detention Facility.

  • Returning citizens reentering society, offering encouragement, and connection to resources.

  • Ministry Partners such as WeCare, Prison Fellowship & Angel Tree, Hope Inspired Ministries, etc.

Our Ministry in Action

  • Weekly Bible Studies – Application-based Bible studies designed to encourage faith, growth, and transformation.

  • Worship Services & Revivals – Bringing encouragement through preaching, teaching, and music.

  • Reentry Support – Assisting men and women as they transition back into society with hope and accountability.  Directing them to available resources and support agencies.

  • Technology Support – Our team manages the training website for the Alabama Department of Corrections, with volunteers providing administrative support.

Get Involved

Our ministry is grounded in Matthew 25:36 – “I was in prison and you came to me.”

While many of our volunteers minister inside the prisons, there are myriad opportunities for serving and supporting Prison Ministries without ever entering a correctional facility.  The harvest is plentiful, and the opportunities to serve are great! We are seeking volunteers with a heart for:

  • Leading or supporting Bible studies

  • Serving in the music ministry

  • Providing administrative support for technology and training

  • Mentoring men and women during and after incarceration

  • Prayer partners
