Volunteer With Tutoring

Ministry Overview

The FBC Community Ministries Wednesday Night Tutoring Program is an opportunity to invest in the next generation and make a lasting impact in the lives of children in our community. Each week, elementary-aged students gather for a meal, homework assistance, and meaningful relationships with caring volunteers. Through encouragement, support, and consistency, tutors help students grow academically while showing them they are valued and loved.

Volunteer Opportunities

1. Tutors

  • Build meaningful relationships with elementary-aged students while helping them complete homework and develop confidence in their academic skills. More importantly, tutors have the opportunity to encourage students and remind them they are cared for and supported.
Tutoring takes place in the Scott Street building of First Baptist Montgomery.
  • Time Commitment:
    	• 1 hour and 15 minutes each Wed.
    	• 5:15 - 6:30 PM
    	• Weekly

2. Van Drivers & Co-Pilots

  • Help provide safe transportation for students after tutoring. Van drivers transport children home to the Nehemiah Center area, while co-pilots assist students as they enter and exit the van and help ensure a safe and welcoming ride home.
  • Time Commitment:
    	• 30 minutes each Wed.
    	• 6:30 - 7:00 PM

Who can volunteer

We are looking for caring individuals who enjoy working with children and want to make a difference through encouragement, consistency, and relationship-building. Tutors do not need special teaching experience—just a willingness to invest time and care into the lives of students. Van drivers should have experience safely operating a van and be comfortable transporting children.
